| We will begin to investigate these “fads” in the next section. Let’s take a look at some of the cases which Vallee presents in Magonia. Several of the cases are of the fairy nature, several are of the UFO variety and some appear to be stories of mushroom lore taken from Went and other fantasy style writers of the mid-19th and early 20th centuries. The next section I am presenting is just a small fraction of the cases which Vallee cites in Magonia. He has close to 1000 cases cited, so I selected just the strangest ones with odd creatures, apparitions, events, clothing, weapons, and abductions. I further grouped them together by category of strangeness and radically shortened each case so as to just bring the most relevant facts to the reader. If people have a sincere interest in this aspect of the UFO puzzle, I suggest reading Vallee’s books. In no way am I suggesting the following cases did not actually occur or that they did not occur in the minds of the individuals who experienced them. However, we should also keep in mind that some of these stories have been “planted” or at least the events influenced, by intelligence agencies back in the 1950’s. Some of the cases cited are from Vallee’s first book, Anatomy of a Phenomena, some are sourced from Charles Fort, some from Newspaper accounts directly, some personal correspondence, some are from magazines and random books. All of them were collected by Vallee. The sources are provided at the end of each case. On October 11, 1954 alone, Vallee reports 11 different sightings. On October 12, another 7. The following are cases where UFOs were seen to fly out of or into the ocean: * Case #37 - June 16, 1909, Donghoi, Annan – An elongated object, brilliantly illuminated was seen flying over the town and was seen by two fishermen to plunge into the sea after being witnessed for almost ten minutes. (60) * Case #40 – August 1914 – Georgian Bay (Canada) Eight people witnessed a spherical craft on the surface of the water with two small men on deck holding a hose that was plunged into the water. On the opposite side were three more men dressed in different clothing. When the members of the crew were spotted, they all went inside the ship, except for one small being, then the ship shot upward leaving a slight trail. (61) * Case #54 – March 1945 – Aleutian Islands – A dark sphere was seen rising out of the ocean and flew away after circling the US attack transport “Delarof,” and was witnessed by 14 sailors. (62) The following are cases where the UFO occupants are seen “making repairs” to their craft: * Case #21- April 15, 1897, Springfield, Ill. – Two farm workers saw a craft in a field, held a talk with the occupants, a woman and two men, and were told the ship was making electrical repairs. (63) There were at least four documented cases that occurred on this day alone. * Case #82 – June 19, 1951 – Joseph Matiszewski heard a whistling sound and saw an object land in a meadow. |
Approaching within 50m, he found himself paralyzed and witnessed the cows in a similar dilemma. Four men emerged with brown skin and black shiny suits and translucent helmets. Eight objects emerged from the craft and hovered above it. Men on deck and inside the craft appeared to be making repairs then the object flew off and the paralyses subsided. (64) The following cases include creatures that had bodies full of hair: * Case #198 – October 5, 1954 – In a police report, Mr. Narcy reported seeing an object near the road and a hairy dwarf wearing an orange tight-fitting jacket aboard the craft. The entity was reported to enter the object through a porthole below the ship. Traces were found at the spot. (65) * Case #252, October 14, 1954 – In Erchin Wood, Casimer Starovski, a miner, had an encounter with a strange being of small height with a bulky body and slanted eyes and a body covered with fur. (66) * Case #352- Chico Venezuela – Two men approached a bright light they saw land near the highway. Four small beings emerged, attacked them while trying to kidnap them. The dwarfs were very strong and had bodies covered in hair. They fled into the craft and disappeared. (67) * Case #344, November 28, 1954, Caracas, Venezuela – G. Gonzales and Jose Ponce, truck drivers found their road blocked by a luminous sphere over 3m in diameter, hovering about 2m above the ground. A small creature with claws and glowing eyes came at them. Gonzales grabbed it and found its body to be light enough to lift but hard and covered in fur. The creature pushed him back while two other dwarfs emerged from the bushes and boarded the craft, carrying stones and samples. (68) A Case of Tall Blond Beings: * Case #384, July 20, 1956 – Panorama City, California – Three witnesses independently claim they observed a ball shaped object from which three long haired blond beings emerged, nearly 2m tall, with tight green suits.
